100 Years of Finnish Cinema: A Finnish Film Festival:

Fall of 2017

The Finnish Film Festival will be organized by the Canadian Friends of Finland in conjunction with the Finnish Studies Program at the University of Toronto.

The Finnish Film Festival will feature five (5) of Finland’s most significant films over the last 100 years. The films will be shown over 5 evenings in the fall of 2017 at Innis College, University of Toronto. The actual dates will be published soon.

The festival will include, for example, Edvin Laine’s momentous The Unknown Soldier (1955), which is based on Vaino Linna’s novel of the same name. The film occupies a central place in the consciousness of the Finnish population. Other films are currently being negotiated.

Efforts are also being made to invite a prominent Finnish Film personality, preferably one of the film directors.

Location: Innis College, University of Toronto
